Corporate Burnout on the Rise in South Florida:
MD, Executive Wellness Coach Warns that Recession, Hiring Freezes, and Real Estate Downturn are Creating High Levels of On-the-Job Stress
Gas prices have topped $4 a gallon, corporations have instituted hiring freezes, and the amount of foreclosures continue to hit record numbers. As a result, South Florida has become one of the hardest hit regions in the country.
“With the news so grim, it’s no wonder that there has been an increase in executives, leaders and managers suffering from stress and corporate burnout,” said Gabriela Corá, MD, MBA.Dr. Corá, a medical doctor and psychiatrist, executive wellness coach, and author of Leading under Pressure, warns that if executives and entrepreneurs are working 16 hour-days to produce more with less, they should be on the lookout for stress-related medical problems. “The question that executives and entrepreneurs should be asking themselves is, ‘Do I need a doctor or a business coach?’ Executives seek to see a doctor when they are already experiencing heartburn, chest pain, or panic attacks. I’d like to see people preventing these physical events from even happening,” said Dr. Corá.She stresses that corporate executives and business owners who still operate at a high level of performance and productivity, but struggle with keeping their minds and bodies healthy, will eventually exhaust their biological stamina and potentially burn out.
“Everyone who is leading under pressure needs to prioritize health, implement treatment as necessary, and improve lifestyle strategies,” said Dr. Corá. “Otherwise, it is not a question of whether people will burn out but when.”
In order to prevent burnout, energy depletion, or constant stress , Dr. Corá has designed a two-day coaching seminar called Maximize Your Health While Building Your Wealth to assist corporate executives and business owners with implementing healthy lifestyle strategies to improve performance, productivity, and managing work in life.
“Dr. Corá has an uncanny ability to breakdown large issues, such as productivity and burnout prevention, into achievable goals that you feel you can resolve. Since learning about the Four Pillars of Biological Health© for example, I have learned how to effectively prioritize exercise, relaxation techniques, and adequate sleep into my hectic schedule,” said Lillian Cosio, an investment professional for NYLIFE in Miami. “Even better, I have become aware of what I truly feel passionate about and do best in my line of work. Concentrating on what I do best has helped my productivity and career tremendously.”For more information or to register for a seminar, call 305-762-7632 or visit www.SeminarsForExecutives.com.
