I would love to see these attributes in my president

By Dr. Gaby Cora - Executive Health & Wealth

Nobody questions upcoming president Obama knows how to charm his audience: as a social networking guru and media favorite, his way to the US presidency was made easy mostly by everybody’s gut-driven feeling of liking him and seeing him in a light of hope. Much has been projected onto this man as someone who unites and who will be the savior of us all. Most people have had a very emotional reaction to this man. The intellectual reaction has been mixed.

One of the characteristics that I admire the most about our country is the ability to stand as one nation and move forward together. By uniting in good will we hope to help our nation grow and develop improved relationships with the world around us (which we desperately need).

Lead by example while saving lives

Experienced pilot leads by calm, vision and experience in critical time

Can you imagine? Your plane is coming down, you are dealing with your own emotions facing imminent death, you see your crew’s faces of despair in your mind’s eye and you sense your passengers’ horror and smell their fear?

US Airways pilot, Chesley Sullenberger, was already a hero before he saved his crew’s and passengers’ lives: he had envisioned, rehearsed, and trained others in safety strategies. He manifested his mission during flight 1549.

Food for thought:

As a leader, are you ready to bring your company to safety?

Thick Skin Pays Off in Leadership

By Dr. Gaby Cora

Women still dodge low balls in the public sphere. They are ready to brush off personal attacks to focus on what matters to them in politics or in the workplace. Whether we are talking about Hillary Clinton or Sarah Palin, we all agree that thick skin pays off in leadership positions. The most humiliating moments for either one of these two candidates may have been when their personal lives were questioned.

Did She Take It “Like A Man?”

By Dr. Gaby Cora

What would a man have done? Would he have walked away, disregarding the offer, or would he have played his cards quietly, graciously, and just accepted the nomination despite the bitter taste in his mouth?

Barack Obama and his Day One Leadership Qualities

Leadership is the name of the game today. As we all join as one America we congratulate President Elect Barack Obama as one nation.

A Key Leadership Distinction

By Dr. Gaby Cora

I am not a politician and have no interest in becoming a political analyst. In regards to leadership and strategy, though, I’m in.

There are some major distinctions in the selection of vice-presidents during this election. Senator Barack Obama chose well-respected Joe Biden, McCain-like in regards to his experience, seniority, long track record, and credibility. He chose Biden because he brought in his extensive experience in foreign affairs, in the military, and decades of commitment and work of service. His choice was of someone who had extensively more experience than he has. Obama’s forte includes his charm, rhetoric, and motivational persona, his perceived weaknesses being lack of experience and lack of focused planning.

Manage Your Stress – and Help Others – During Difficult Times

By Dr. Gaby Cora

Many who fear they have lost part of their wealth these days of high oil prices, frozen wages, and increased cost of living, also feel like they are losing their minds. Our response to stressful situations is a combination of our genetic make-up and our response to environmental triggers. Some of us will shoot our physiology to the roof with a good dose of norepinephrine in the fight-or-flight response to this stressor, experiencing a wide range of physical symptoms including heart palpitations, clammy hands, dizziness, or a sense of impending doom with fear.

Are You Tired of Your Female Boss Acting More Like a Dog Than a Leader?

This expert says “Not a chance! Everyone can be a good leader without misbehaving”

Everyone has had that kind of female boss, the one that you think inappropriate words for when she gets to that time of the month or starts emotional wars during the busiest projects of the day. Some days it’s just better to stand back and let her attack someone else, but other days you just can’t stay out of the line of fire. What do you do when your female boss is acting like a, well, bitch?

Many face the daily quandary of finding new ways to thrive in order to achieve higher goals in this highly and increasingly competitive world. Corporate Burnout: Do You Need a Coach or a Doctor?

“Stress is the buzzword of the twenty-first century,” Dr. Gabriela Corá recently said on Fox News. In her new book, Leading under Pressure: Strategies to Maximize Peak Performance & Productivity while Maximizing Health & Wellbeing, she addresses the multiple challenges corporate executives and entrepreneurs face as they strive to achieve higher goals with increased competition, progressively limited resources, and the same manpower. “Burnt-out, energy-depleted, or constantly stressed, many find themselves unable to take pleasure in their hard-earned position,” Dr. Corá says.
