When the Disease of Stigma Kills More than the Disease Itself
Have you ever had the flu, chicken pox, or measles? Nobody ever asked to get infected with any of these viruses. Nobody has ever asked to get infected with the HIV virus either. One in five people in the US carries the HIV virus and doesn’t even know it. You can’t treat what you don’t know. If you are young and healthy and your friends look young and healthy, it would not even cross your mind that any of them may have the virus. Today is December, the month of HIV and AIDS awareness, as next year is the 30-year anniversary of AIDS awareness, and already celebrities and influential politicians are discussing how to move forward.

Go Mediterranean Diet
We have known of the health benefits the Mediterranean diet provides for some time.
In fact, I always recommend it to all my clients – and patients - unless they have healthy traditional foods and a healthy heritage.
This Spanish study suggests the Mediterranean diet may have a protective role against depression after studying a group of 10,000+ people prospectively over 4+ years. Although the underlying mechanism is unknown, the diet has already been linked to beneficial effects to the heart and immunologic system.

We are constantly worrying these days. Counting the domino effect of the state of our economy, the increasing financial instability, natural catastrophes, and the back-to-school craze, stress in the workplace has reached epidemic numbers. People worry about losing their homes or paying for their groceries, they are concerned about giving their kids the education they didn’t have, but they also fear whether their business is still afloat or if they still have a job. Corporate warriors and business owners are equally stressed because they face increasing competition and the unpredictability of our overall financial situation.
